| The Conch 165,000m3 LNG Tanker (Downloadable Product) |
At the time this paper was prepared, it was believed that there were several reasons for supposing that larger LNG tankers would soon be ordered, ie: - the total capital investment required for a given project would be reduced - the overall fleet operating costs would be less - operating experience on the existing 75 000 cu m ships was accumulating rapidly and the first 125 000 cu m ships were entering service. As we now know it took a further 35 years before LNG carriers of 165,000 cu m 9and larger arrived) but this paper shows how owners and builders in the mid '70's felt relaxed about the step up in size.
