Kværner Masa-Yards has systematically built up LNG shipbuilding knowledge during the last four years. This process has included design tools for purely technical and techno-economical purposes. While being engaged in actual design work we have come across questions that do have general interest in the LNG industry some of which are described here.

We have carried out extensive development work to increase productivity and quality of manufacturing of spherical cargo tanks over the past years. Main efforts have been concentrated around forming and welding of thick wall aluminium plates. That work is described here to an extent we feel is commercially possible.
