The future of LNG was the subject of much study in the 1970's by many organisations.

These are the personal thoughts of the author that he shares on the general subject of what is new in LNG marine transportation.

This paper examines what appeared in the mid '70's — the doubts that clouded the market and the causes.

What were the monetary, political and economic crises that shook the world and assesses how the obstacles which mounted up in a year on the LNG routes could be overcome.

This paper also has an addendum on the overtonnaging of the LPG market in the late 1970's and lessons to be learned.

Paper delivered by:
Rene Boudet
