Kvaerner's LNG containment system was introduced to the market just before the first boom in LNGC building. It has ever since maintained a very strong market position. In service the system has proved to have the qualities anticipated at the design stage. The statistics of the LNG fleet show that MOSS carriers have not experienced major delays or repair work caused or aggravated by the cargo tank system. For the rest of the fleet such incidents sum to more than 6 days per year on average. The statistics also show that MOSS carriers produce more loaded miles per year than the rest of the fleet. Longer trading distances for these ships is the single most important reason for this difference.
